Miss Zelle's Halloween Party
Thank you to all of the parents for throwing such an AWESOME Halloween party. Everyone had a great time!
Miss Zelle's November Newsletter
Dear Parents/Guardians,
The fourth graders continue to work hard at school, and put forth their best efforts! I was excited to meet with you all last week for conferences. In math we continue to work on our place value and number sense unit. When we finish, we will begin working on our unit of time, data, and graphing. In science we are learning about energy transfer in ecosystems, such as the roles of living things, and how living things get their energy. When we finish, we will learn about how weathering and erosion affect rocks, and about soil. In communication arts we are learning about making inferences. In writing we are working on taking a persuasive piece of writing through the writing process. As always, make sure your student is reading nightly.
November should be a fun month! As always, feel freeto contact me with questions.

Miss Zelle's Class Wins the Door Decorating Contest!
Miss Zelle's class tied with Mrs. Keller's class for the door decorating contest. Students decorated our door for Red Ribbon Week. They decorated our door by splitting it in half. One half of the door told you to say no to drugs, and the other side of our door told healthy ways to live.
Mrs. Pride's Class Finishes Runaway Twin!
Mrs. Pride's class just finished their second read aloud book, Runaway Twin, by Peg Kehret. This book is a Mark Twain Award Nominee for the current school year. Read comments below to hear some of our thoughts on the book.

Miss Zelle's Science Classes Decompose Bananas!
Miss Zelle's science classes learned about decomposing bananas. They put a slice of banana into a bag by itself, and a slice of banana into a bag with yeast. We observed the bananas over 4 days. Today, students concluded that the banana with yeast decomposed faster, and that yeast was a decomposer.
