Miss Zelle's Chapter 2 Math Quiz on Wednesday, October 19

Miss Zelle's students learned about Chapter 2, comparing, ordering, and rounding numbers. 
Students will need to be able to
  • Compare numbers using <, >, and = signs
  • Order numbers from greatest to least and least to greatest
  • Round numbers
  • Make and Use a Table to solve problems
Steps for Comparing and Ordering Numbers
  • Write one number underneath the other(s)
  • Compare the digits, beginning with the greatest place value position
  • Circle the first digits that are different and compare
  • Always open to the bigger number
  • > is greater than
  • < is less than
  • = is equal to
Steps for Rounding Numbers
  • Underline the place value position to which you are rounding
  • Look at the number to the right (Draw an arrow)
  • We decide if the number to the right is
  • 5 and above, give the underlined number a shove, 4 and below leave the underlined number alone
  • Everything after the underline becomes zeroes, and everything before the underline stays the same. 
Study guides are due on Wednesday, the day of the quiz.  We will review them before taking the quiz.
