- Identify the value of a digit in different place values
- Using benchmarks to estimate the number of objects
- Comparing numbers up to the hundred thousands place (use <, >, and = symbols)
- Ordering numbers: GREATEST to LEAST and LEAST to GREATEST
- Organizing numbers in a table and using the table to answer questions about a set of data
- Rounding numbers to a given place value
- Estimating sums and differences using ROUNDING
- Adding and subtracting numbers to the hundred thousands place
- Deciding whether an estimate or exact answer is needed in a word problem
- Hint: The word "ABOUT" in a word problem means you should estimate
- Writing expressions and equations based on a story problem, and choosing a variable for the unknown number
