How living things get their energy
Habitat- is an environment that meets the needs of a living thing. Ex: insect-rock, tarantula-desert
Niche- is a role, how a living thing interacts with its habitat, such as how it gets its food, or reproduces. Ex: Cat’s claws and eyes- food, sidewinder- small animals
Food Chain- is the movement of food energy in a sequence of living things. It starts with producers, consumer, other consumers
Ex: Grass à Rabbit à snake à hawk
Prey- Consumers that are eaten, what is hunted
Predator- Consumer that eats prey, hunters
Food Web- Several Food Chains that overlap.
Study the levels of consumers.
Energy Pyramid - shows how much energy is passes from one living thing to another along a food chain. 90% is used, 10% gets passed on.
