Mrs. Pride's Class Plays Inferencing Charades

We are beginning our inferencing unit in reading and started today by playing charades. Students had to use background knowledge and partner clues to figure out what their partner was acting out. This is similar to how we will use background knowledge and authors' clues to make inferences while reading.

Miss Zelle's Unit 1 Test on Tuesday, November 8

Students in Miss Zelle's Class have their Unit 1 Test this Tuesday, November 8.  This test covers material learned in Chapters 1-4. 

• Identify the value of digits in each place value 
• Determine the new value of a number when it has been INCREASED or DECREASED 
• Write and read a number 3 ways:  
  • Standard Form (example: 325,491) 
  • Expanded Form (example: 300,000 + 20,000 + 5,000 + 400 + 90 + 1) 
  • Word Form (example: Three hundred twenty-five thousand, four hundred ninety-one
• Use a benchmark to estimate a number of objects 
• Read a pictograph 
• Compare and Order Numbers
• Round Numbers
• Make and Use a Table to solve problems
• Estimating by Rounding
• Adding and Subtracting 4 digit numbers
• Subtracting across zeroes
• Finding an exact or estimate for a problem
• Write and evaluate an expression
• Write and evaluate an equation
• Addition Properties
• In/Out Boxes, find the missing number and write an equation for the In/Out Boxes

Study guides are due on Monday.  We will review the study guides during centers.

Inference Charades 

Students acted out 3 clues to a partner.

The partner had to guess what they were acting out. 

Students used clues and background information to make an inference on what their partner was acting out. 

Mrs. Pride's Book Projects: Reminder

Just a reminder that all second quarter book projects are due no later than December 5.  Students should already be reading their selected chapter books.  Materials for their chosen Tic Tac Toe activities are coming home today.  They may begin working on these at any time after completing the book. Book projects may be turned in early if finished before the December 5 due date.
