In reading, we are learning how visualizing the books we read helps us to understand the stories. Today students used the 'Sketch to Stretch' activity to draw the mental images they made as they listened to a read aloud book.

Mrs. Pride's Class: Chapter 3 Math Quiz on Wednesday

Our Chapter 3 math quiz is this Wednesday (October 26).  Study guides are coming home today.  Odds will be due tomorrow, and completed study guides due on Wednesday.  


Students should be able to:

• Estimate sums and differences using ROUNDING
• Add and subtract 4-digit numbers- remember to line up your place values carefully!!!
• Subtract across zeros
• Decide whether a word problem needs an EXACT answer or an ESTIMATE
• HINT: Look for the word "about" in the story problem...this clue means you only need to find an estimate.

Miss Zelle's Science Classes Chapter 5 Lesson 1 Quiz Thursday, October 27

Students in Miss Zelle's science classes have a quiz over chapter 5 lesson 1 this Thursday.  For the quiz they should study the following.

• Producers
• Consumers
• Decomposers
• Herbivores
• Carnivores
• Omnivores

They should also know examples of each. 

Miss Zelle's Chapter 3 Math Quiz on Wednesday, October 26

Miss Zelle's math class is having a math quiz on chapter 3 this Wednesday, October 26.  The quiz will cover the following information. 

• Estimating by rounding,
• Adding and Subtracting 4 digit numbers
• Subtracting across zeroes
• Comparing numbers
• Problem Solving: Finding an exact answer or estimate

Steps for estimating by rounding,

• students should estimate to the place value position given,
• and if no position is given, then they should estimate to the highest place value position that both numbers share,
• then add or subtract. 

Study guides are due Wednesday.  We will review them before taking the quiz.
