Updates for Miss Zelle's class

We are off to a great start this school year!  In math we have been working on our Geometry unit.  We will continue to work on Geometry this month, working on perimeter and area and three dimensional shapes.  In science we are finishing up learning about the Scientific Method (which will be talked about all year during scientific investigations).  Next week we will begin our Ecosystem project, where your child will be learning about a specific biome of our world.  In communication arts, we are going to begin meeting in guided reading groups and working on making connections as readers.  In writing we are looking at authors writing and getting ideas for our own writing.  We are also learning the writing process.  The first piece we will begin to take through the writing process, will be a personal narrative piece.  We will also be working on getting our spelling program up and running in the next few weeks.  September looks like it is going to be a fun month! As always if you have any questions feel free to contact me.

Miss Zelle's class learns about the scientific method using Oreos

Students learned about the scientific method during the oreo investigation.  Students learned to create a testable question, make observations, write a hypothesis, create and conduct a fair experiment, and draw conclusions, all using oreos.  They determined which cookie, reduced fat, regular, or double stuff would sink the fastest in milk.

Students in Mrs. Pride's social studies class use computers to find images of landforms. They are creating their own landform picture dictionaries.
