A student in our class turned in character bucks to bring a share from home today. We had so much fun meeting Joseph's pet rabbit, David. David is named after David Freese!

You may earn up to 10 points of extra credit for completing the following assignments.
1. Write a paragraph about how you experience motion. Describe each of these kinds of motion, forward, backward, back-and-forth, side-to-side, and rotating. ( 2 points )
2. Go outside with a partner. Bring a meter stick, masking tape, and a stopwatch. Mark off a distance of at least 10 meters (33 feet). Walk or run as your partner times you. Use the formula to find your speed. Repeat three times to see if your speed is consistent. Make sure to show your work and how you found your speed. ( 3 points )
3. Use library resources to learn more about Isaac Newton. Explain what Newton’s second law of motion is, and how it relates to ideas in the chapter. ( 5 points )

Chapter 15 Study Guide
Acceleration is a change in speed or direction of an object’s motion.
Force is a push or a pull, which is measured in Newtons .
Friction is a force that resists motion, relative to each other, of objects that are touching.
Gravitation is a force that acts between all masses and causes them to attract one another.
Gravity is the force of attraction between Earth and other objects.
Inertia is the property of matter that keeps a moving object moving in a straight line.
Mass is the amount of matter something contains.
Speed is the change of position during a unit of time.
Velocity is the speed and direction of an object.
Weight is the measurement of the force of gravity on an object.
Know how to measure Speed, and be able to tell the difference between an object’s weight and mass.
Don’t forget to study your notes, worksheets, and old quizzes.

Miss Zelle's Chapter 27 Math Quiz Wednesday!
Miss Zelle's Class will take their chapter 27 math quiz on Wednesday. They should study the following:
- Rounding Decimals- Remember to find the place value position to which you are rounding, then look at the number to the right. If it is 5 and above, give the underlined number a shove, 4 and below, leave it alone.
- Adding and Subtracting Decimals and Money- Remember to line up the decimal point, check the sign to see if you are adding or subtracting, add or subtract, and bring down the decimal point and dollar sign if there is one.

Mrs. Pride's class has a math quiz on Wednesday over Chapter 27 (Decimals). Students should be familiar with the following...
- Rounding decimals
- Adding and Subtracting Decimals
- Always line up the decimal point
- Add zeros to the END of decimals so each number has the same amount of digits before adding or subtracting
- If adding or subtracting money, don't forget to include the dollar sign in your answer
Study guides are coming home today and will be due on Wednesday.

Students Learn Internet/Phone Safety
Students from the middle schools and high school visited the fourth graders today to teach them about internet and cell phone safety. Ask your student some of the tips they learned today!

Sappington Fourth Grade Visits Jefferson City
The fourth grade at Sappington visited Jefferson City on May 1st. We took a tour of Jefferson City, House Chambers, Senate Chambers, and the Governor's Mansion. We got to speak with both the Senator (Lemke) and Sappington's state representative (Leara).
