Miss Zelle's Fourth Quarter Book Projects

Miss Zelle's Class will be doing accelerated reader goals for fourth quarter instead of book projects.  The students voted for this change.  Students will assign themselves a goal for the quarter and read books and take quizzes on the computer toward meeting their goal.  If they are reading books that are not accelerated reader books, they will be able to write a 1-3 paragraph summary on the book, depending on the book's length, and I will subtract points from their goal, so that those books will count as well.  Also, if students choose, they may still do a book project for extra credit towards their reading grade.  If they chose to do this, their extra credit assignments will be due no later than Monday, May 14th.  Please let me know if you have any questions toward the changes to reading projects in fourth quarter.

April Updates for Miss Zelle's Class!

Dear Parents/Guardians,
The fourth grade students will be starting the Missouri Assessment Performance, or MAP, test this month.  All the students have worked hard all year, and this will be one way to evaluate their achievement.  The Communication Arts MAP test will be given to the fourth graders on April 10, 11, and 12.  The Math MAP test will be given to the fourth graders on April 17, 18, and 19.  The MAP test is long and can be a test of endurance.  Encourage your child to not give up and to do his/her very best.  A good night’s sleep is very important.  Getting to bed on time will be important.  Please make sure your child has breakfast.  We will be having snacks during the morning, but breakfast will start the day off right.  Thank you for your encouragement and support!
As always if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Miss Zelle
